How to verify the token you received
Verification is about the issuer, not the number. Check it in a block explorer, which shows the underlying asset identity rather than a wallet's label for it.
1. The amount
Compare what arrived with the "you receive" figure from the quote. It is net of the destination network fee, the service fee and, on cross-asset routes, the conversion rate — so it is expected to be lower than what you sent.
2. The asset identity
- EVM: open the transfer in the explorer and check the token contract address against Circle's published address for that chain.
- Solana: check the mint address of the token account that was credited.
- Stellar: check the asset issuer account, not just the asset code.
3. The recipient
Confirm the credited address is the one you control. Compare the full string, not just the first and last characters — address-poisoning attacks specifically exploit truncated comparisons.
Background on why the issuer matters: native USDC vs wrapped USDC.
FAQ
My wallet shows the balance. Is that enough?
Not on its own. Wallets display a ticker, and any token can claim a ticker. Verify the contract address, mint address or Stellar issuer before treating the balance as real.
