What happens when a route is unavailable

Before you commit

If a route is not accepting transfers, the app will not quote it. The routes page carries the current status of every pair, and updates records when a status changed and why.

After you have paid in

  • Re-route. If another path can produce the same outcome, it is used. You do nothing; the completion time may be longer than quoted.
  • Refund. If no path can settle it, the pay-in is returned. Refunds go back to the source, minus the network fee that has already been spent on-chain.

What we will not do

Leave a paid-in transfer in an indefinite pending state, or show a route as live on a content page while the product has stopped accepting it. Route status on these pages and in the product come from the same registry.

FAQ

Can a transfer be stuck forever?

No. Every transfer that has been paid in is driven to a terminal state: settled on the destination chain, or refunded.

Why is a route marked paused instead of removed?

Removing it would leave people who used it with no explanation. A paused route keeps its page, states why it is paused, and stops accepting new transfers.
